Affiliate Disclosure
Last updated: September 30, 2026
The short version
- Nothing on this site earns us money right now. We have no affiliate relationships in place as of the date above.
- When LiftPedia launches, we plan to earn a commission when you buy a supplement through one of our links.
- You never pay more. The commission comes out of the retailer's margin, not your price.
- A commission can never change what we recommend. Commission rates are not an input to our ranking, not now, not later.
- We do not sell placements, sponsored rankings, or paid reviews. A brand cannot pay to rank higher, and cannot pay to make a bad review disappear.
- If any of that ever changes, this page changes first.

1. Where things stand today
LiftPedia has not launched. As of the date at the top of this page, we are not enrolled in any affiliate program, we have no agreements with any supplement brand or retailer, and no link anywhere on this site pays us anything.
We are publishing this disclosure before we make a single dollar, on purpose. The rules below are the ones we are committing to in advance, so that when money does start moving, you can hold us to something we wrote down when we had nothing to lose by writing it.
We will update this page, including the "last updated" date, before the first revenue-generating link goes live, not after.
2. How LiftPedia plans to make money
Two ways, and we intend to keep it to these two:
Affiliate commissions
When you decide to buy a supplement and click through to a retailer from LiftPedia, that retailer may pay us a small percentage of the sale. This is the standard way independent product-comparison sites fund themselves. It is the revenue model we expect to rely on most.
An optional paid tier
We may offer an optional subscription with extra features for people who want them, for example, filtering reviews by LiftRank tier. Core supplement discovery, comparison, and personalization are intended to stay free. A paid tier is money that comes from users rather than brands, which is the healthier incentive of the two, and part of why we want it.
And the ways we don't
We do not plan to sell, and are committing here not to sell:
- Sponsored placements, a brand paying for a higher position, a featured slot, or inclusion in your results
- Paid or incentivized reviews, anyone being compensated to write, slant, or remove a review
- Pay-to-rank in any form, including "preferred partner" tiers that quietly function as paid ranking
- Sponsored access to your personal information, no brand or sponsor can buy your quiz answers, your profile, or your activity. On selling or sharing personal information more generally, our Privacy Policy sets out exactly where we stand and why we'd have to ask you first
3. What an affiliate link actually is
An affiliate link is an ordinary link to a retailer with a tracking code attached that identifies the referral as coming from us. If you buy something after following it, the retailer pays us a commission from the margin they already had on that sale.
Your price is identical. An affiliate link does not add a fee, a markup, or a surcharge. You pay exactly what you would have paid going to that retailer directly. If you'd rather not use our link, you are welcome to search for the product yourself, that is a completely reasonable thing to do, and nothing on LiftPedia will be hidden behind a tracked link.
4. Why a commission can't move a ranking
This is the part that matters, so here is the actual mechanism rather than a promise.
LiftPedia's personalization engine ranks products in two stages, both of which are described publicly on our How It Works page:
- Hard filters run first. Anything that conflicts with your stated requirements, a dietary restriction, an allergen, your budget ceiling, is removed before you see a single result. A product cannot buy its way back past a filter.
- Soft scoring ranks what's left, based on how closely each product matches your goal, your training style, and your budget fit.
The inputs to both stages are your quiz answers and verifiable product attributes: ingredients, doses, servings, price, dietary and allergen information, and community reviews. Commission rate is not one of the inputs. Neither is whether we have a relationship with the brand at all. A product we earn nothing on and a product we earn our highest rate on are scored by the identical formula.
Brands have no ability to edit, weight, or override that scoring. They cannot see your quiz answers. They cannot request a position.
If we ever change this, if commission ever becomes a ranking factor in any form, we will say so plainly on this page and on the How It Works page before it takes effect. We would rather lose your trust honestly than keep it dishonestly.
5. Review and LiftRank integrity
LiftRank is our community credibility system: users earn LiftPoints for honest, useful reviews and climb tiers as the community finds their contributions valuable. Money has no entry point into it.
- Brands cannot write, commission, or ghostwrite reviews.
- No one is paid, discounted, or given free product in exchange for a review.
- A brand cannot pay to have a negative review removed, buried, or edited. We remove reviews for breaking our rules, never for being unflattering.
- LiftPoints have no cash value, cannot be bought, and are removed from accounts found to be manipulating ratings.
- If a reviewer ever does have a material connection to a brand, that connection has to be disclosed on the review itself.
6. Programs we expect to join
When we launch, we anticipate participating in:
- The Amazon Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon properties.
- Direct retailer and brand affiliate programs, supplement retailers and manufacturers that run their own referral programs.
- Affiliate networks that administer such programs on a brand's behalf.
Once we are accepted into the Amazon Associates Program, this page will carry the statement Amazon requires of all participants: "As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases." We are not yet an Amazon Associate, so we are not claiming to be one today.
Participation in any of these programs does not mean the retailer or brand endorses LiftPedia, reviews our content, or has any say in it. It also does not mean we endorse everything they sell.
7. Where else you'll see this disclosed
A single disclosure page buried in a footer is not good enough, and under current advertising standards it is not sufficient on its own. So in addition to this page:
- Any page carrying affiliate links will show a clear, visible label at or above those links, not hidden below the content, not inside a collapsed section, not in grey six-point type.
- The disclosure will be readable without clicking, scrolling, tapping, or hovering to reveal it, on phones as well as desktops.
- It will use plain language, "we may earn a commission", rather than jargon or an unexplained abbreviation.
- Where we promote supplements on social media, the same disclosure rules apply to those posts.
8. What we will never do
- Do anything with your personal information that you haven't agreed to. We don't sell, rent, or trade it, and we couldn't start without asking your permission first, our Privacy Policy explains this in full.
- Give a brand or sponsor access to your quiz answers, your profile, or your individual activity.
- Accept payment to raise a product's match score, ranking, or rating.
- Accept payment to write, alter, or suppress a review.
- Recommend a supplement we would not be comfortable recommending if it paid us nothing.
- Hide a material connection between us and a brand we are talking about.
- Claim a supplement treats, cures, or prevents any medical condition. See our Terms of Service for our full health disclaimer.
9. What happens when you click a link
When you follow a link from LiftPedia to a retailer, you leave our site and land on theirs. At that point you are subject to their privacy policy and terms, not ours. The retailer may set cookies or use similar technology to attribute the referral to us, as is standard for affiliate programs.
What we receive back from these programs is aggregate commission reporting, that a sale occurred and what we earned on it. We do not receive your name, your address, your payment details, or a list of what you bought tied to your identity. Our Privacy Policy describes in full what we do and do not collect.
10. The rules we hold ourselves to
This disclosure is written to meet or exceed the following standards:
- The Competition Act (Canada), sections 74.01 and 74.02, which prohibit false or misleading representations and require that any material connection between a promoter and the product being promoted be disclosed.
- The Ad Standards Canada Influencer Marketing Disclosure Guidelines, which specifically address affiliate links and require disclosures to be prominent, plainly worded, and visible without additional user action.
- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission's Guides Concerning the Use of Endorsements and Testimonials in Advertising (16 C.F.R. Part 255), which require that material connections be disclosed clearly and conspicuously, meaning difficult to miss and easily understood by an ordinary reader, in or before any content containing an affiliate link.
- The Amazon Associates Operating Agreement, once we join that program, including its required disclosure statement in its exact wording.
We treat these as a floor, not a ceiling.
11. Tell us if we missed one
If you find a link on LiftPedia that earns us a commission without saying so, or a disclosure that is too small, too vague, or too hard to find, we want to know. Email us at [email protected] and we will fix it. We would much rather hear it from you than have you quietly conclude we were hiding it.
12. Changes to this disclosure
We will update this page whenever our monetization changes, and always before a change takes effect rather than after. The "last updated" date at the top will always reflect the current version. If we make a material change, adding a new revenue stream, or altering anything in section 4, we will say so prominently rather than relying on a silent date change.
